Purim commemorates the saving, by Mordecai and Esther, of the Jews of ancient Persia from Haman’s massacre.
The Purim festival meal is a family get-together with special Purim dishes. This is traditionally 'Hamantashen' (triangular cakes) usually filled with poppy seeds (mohn) or mashed prunes. It is a reminder of Haman's three cornered hat or pocket.
Traditional foods also include biscuits, cookies, dessert ices and all party foods.
