OBSERVANCES
Kindling of the Menorah lights.
The game driedel is played.
Giving of Chanukah money and eating of potato latkes, and other fried foods, doughnuts, fritters.
The Menorah, the eight branched candlestick, is given prominent place in the home.
In the evening, the family gathers around the Menorah and the father recites the benediction whilst he lights the candles. The lighting of the Menorah is a beautiful and impressive ceremony and the evenings are festive with gifts and games.
FOODS FOR CHANUKAH
Potato Latkes and Mini Latkes are a tradition for this holiday although many other foods are
consumed as well.
